The areas we cover
RCV supports people with a physical disability living across South Oxfordshire, East Oxfordshire, Cherwell, the Vale of the White Horse, Reading, South Northamptonshire, Warwick and District, South Derbyshire and North Leicestershire.  Deciding to become involved with RCV means that you become an 'RCV Member'.

Getting invovled with RCV
In order to take advantage of what RCV can offer, we do require a referral. This can come from the individual concerned, a family member, carer or even a next door neighbour!  Likewise, we receive alot of referrals from professionals in health and social services.  In the first instance, give us a call, and we can guide you through the process.  Please be assured that it's not complicated!

Once a referral has been accepted

RCV projects are run by paid Co-ordinators.  Their job is to meet with you, get to know you better and identify your interests.  This will happen over a period of time, and will enable us to ensure that we meet your needs.  It's also a great opportunity for you to find out more about us and be clear on the ways that RCV can work with you.

Finding the right volunteer for you
RCV has  alot of experience of finding suitably matched volunteers, but the process can still take time.  Once we have identified a person who shares your interests, and we have done the necessary checks, the Co-ordinator will look to arrange a meeting with the volunteer, which will enable you to find out whether the partnership will work.  If it does, then that's great, but if not, it's our job to keep looking!

Monitoring the partnership
Once you and your volunteer have established your 'partnership', the Co-ordinator will continue to maintain contact with you, just to be sure that things are working out as well as they should be.  Over time, and as the partnership develops, we will begin to contact you less frequently, but will continue to monitor things, so as to be sure that your own needs continue to be met.  In the meantime, many of our projects offer a great social scene, with pub lunches and other activities, so do be aware of the other ways that you can also get involved.

When a partnership comes to an end
Sometimes, with even the best of intentions, things don't work out.  However, don't despair.  RCV is here to support you, and when there are problems, it's our job to sort them out.  If this means that we start the process all over again, then so be it!   The good news is that we will have already spent time getting to know you, so we will review the situation with you and agree the way that we will move things forward.

Living in area not covered by RCV
We are currently looking to expand into other areas of England, but in order to do this, we need to know that you need us!  Please do contact us, and have a chat.  We are keen to know about where you are and, even at a distance, how we might be able to support you in the future.
