What is an RCV Trustee? Our trustees are volunteers who serve on the management committees for each affiliated RCV branch. They are highly valued people who believe in our cause, lead what we do and make it possible for our work to continue. They offer their time and commitment with a variety of life experiences and skills. You may be just the person we need!
What is an RCV Management Committee? The Management Committee is a legally constituted body that is responsible for the good governance* of the charity. It is made up of trustees who jointly take on the responsibility for: · Upholding the charities values and setting its vision · Leading the strategic direction · The performance and quality of projects · Compliance with legal and regulatory requirements · Financial management and prudence · The promotion of RCV in the community · Employing staff · Adherence to internal policies and external agreements The management committees meet 6-8 times per year and trustees conduct a range of tasks between meetings, typically taking up between 5-10 hours per month, depending on their position.
What do trustees get back? The trustee’s role is one of responsibility and hard work but it is also very rewarding. Trustees are giving something back to the community while expanding their own experience and personal development. They receive an induction, including all the information they will need and training where appropriate. They have the support of a friendly team, with opportunities to network with trustees from other areas. Ongoing assistance is provided by head office staff. Trustees give their time for free but are entitled to all out of pocket expenses. All RCV Trustees are protected by indemnity insurance.
