Q . Am I eligible to receive a service from RCV?

A. Clients must fit the eligibility criteria i.e. must be between the ages of 16 and 75, lead a restricted life due to a physical disability and live within the catchment area of one of the projects. Each client must be willing to make a commitment to the volunteer and the chosen activity.

Q . Is there a cost?

A. The support provided by RCV is free, however where the activity has a cost implication, the clients are expected to bear that cost. Co-ordinators will negotiate concessionary entrance fees to places such as sports centres and adult education classes. Many activities, such as learning a language, do not incur any expense.

Q Are volunteers expenses reimbursed?

A. Volunteers are encouraged to claim all out of pocket expenses

Q. What training is offered to volunteers?

A. All volunteers undergo manual handling training and information on the disability of the person with whom they will be partnered. Other training on offer includes First Aid, disability awareness and positive listening.
